Folded Text
With the folded text scans I applied the threshold effect on the images, this removed any grey tones from the scans and left a high contrast image.

- The high contrast will hopefully allow for the text to stand out on the album, being a key part of why people are buying the record in the first place. Feel like I want to have it be something people recognise but not sure why - similar to the name of hiatus kaiyote.
- The folded grid text will be interesting to overlay onto pictures are there will be a sense of order and direction applied as a result.
Bitmap/Threshold Images
Wanted to experiment with the images and effects you could use on Photoshop, I focused mainly on the film images of Jorja smith as I felt it would be easier to see the differences if I kept the image consistent.
- Bitmap effect on the images left a pattern on the images, not sure if I like it or not.
- Find the image with multiple coloured layers (right) to be more effective, it provides more information and detail of the image.
- Test using more developed images, make some of own, place into film format if can't find any suitable.
Overlay of Individual Folded Type
Combining the images with the individual folded letters made in Tuesday's design principles session. I wanted to see whether the two developments would compliment or contrast, see which I preferred and if any advancements could be made towards the screen.

- This text felt too smooth against the gritty bitmap image, but if made grainy to match would it blend into the background and become a bit too similar = difficult to see or read?
- Test with configuration once image development is complete.
Overlay of Folded Grid Type
Incorporating the folded grid type into the image, using the earlier threshold development.
- The hidden grid text over the image (left) gives space for both components to breathe, it doesn't look as chaotic as the grid text overlay (centre).
- The grid text could look better over a more simple background - could maybe take images out and just use the shapes? Or really simplify the images so they become shapes rather than faces = less conflict between components but film element is still there.
- Large text (right) works well over the images, bold, has a quirk, is more legible than the individual folded type. Small patches of muck from photocopier compliment the background image well, tie the two together a little more.
Panoramic Image
Taken from a quote by Hiatus Kaiyote's lead singer 'a hiatus is taking a pause in your life to take in your surroundings, have a full panoramic view of your experiences and absorbing'. Took my images and divided into a "panoramic" that spreads across the sleeve.

- I like how it is one continuous image, needs to be more obvious as the crop takes away from the image of the design a bit.
- Need to consider paper type massively if I were to use this design since it has a lot of empty space. Could print white onto black paper for design?
- Green and red image has less contrast and the text is less legible, need to refine in order to communicate message through visuals more clearly.
