Initial Ideas

Space Theme:
- can it look cliche or tacky, needs to be well considered.
- could incorporate the colour scheme of blues, yellows, materials.

Science Theme:
- has a sense of confidence when talking about science.
- Auggie knows he's god at science.
- his facial disfigurement is due to the TCOF1 gene, scientific reason.

Outside vs Inside:
- discussions about heaven and if people keep their face. Evokes visuals of a mask, the idea of face swapping, the flip books children get, couple have running around the whole book.
- could have the inside pages as the outside? - contents as the outside of the book
- think about figure and ground for the text.
- cross sections of objects, bodies etc.

School Related:
- School books, the red margin and blue lines.
- name badges
- lunch trays
- could use techniques you'd do in primary school, paper cut, paper mache, play doh/Plasticine.

27 Ways:
- alter text 27 different ways.
- make a grid using 27 different shapes.
- disect something 27 times and piece back together, or combine with different text or pictures.

Diagrams:
- family tree diagram.
- think about family tree diagram in terms of space, look at how people describe Auggie as the sun and how others orbit around it.
- space diagrams, really simplified.
- seating plan, showing a difference for Auggie.
- icons for how different character's describe Auggie, think about the layout.

Cauliflower:
- Auggie describes as having cauliflower ears, could cut words into a cauliflower.
- cauliflower prints.
- cross section of a cauliflower.

Dinner trays:
- Photograph multiple dinner trays, all the same, and one packed lunch.
- use lunch box as a grid.
- cross section of a packed lunch.

Space Helmet:
- make out of paper mache, could cut in half (outside vs inside).
- make out of origami, could include tinfoil?
