Corrections:
- Made the Helvetica type the same colour that's used in the rest of the exhibition to have more continuity between the content, also reflects the front of the design better was the text and line is the same colour.
- Positioned the text closer to the centre so it's easier to produce, when cut all the text is in the same place.
- Again could still be printed onto cartridge paper to have a more professional appearance, should do this on Thursday.
- Could include a sticker on the invitation that could be used in the exhibition in a way, could stick somewhere along the way finding, or used as part of you ticket? (talk to sadie and danielle)
Front Cover:
Taking inspiration from the window vinyl developments made by Sadie and Danielle, seeing what visuals could be translated from one part of the design to the other.
Keeping the colours the same is key, could have the O of low be in the same colour pattern provide consistency across the formats.
- Made developments off of the window vinyls, having too many lines was too confusing within the design as the words were difficult to read.
- Having the blue background made it difficult to read the 'O' it looked different from the original typeface as the outer ring wasn't as noticeable.
- Having the blue being at C 100 M 69 Y 7 K 30 was the most successful, when made darker it clashed with the text.
- Having the zig zag line pass across the letters was a way to make the shape interact with the letters, been seen as a cohesive piece rather than two separate elements.
- Taking the most successful design and developing it further, when the zig zag passes through the counters of a letter it distracts the reader, making it less legible. As the labels are going to be printed on a small scale legibility need to be considered.
- The bottom right was the best as the lines could interact with the W and Y to provide depth, without distracting the overall appearance of the typeface.
- Production meant the cover was on thicker paper than the rest of the pieces, then on the back is a piece of greyboard to add some stability to the key ring.
- The back piece could do with being tested with other material, such as mount board, to have a more professional appearance.
- Inner paper needs to be printed using cartridge, however the configuration of aligning the front and back might be too difficult (talk to James about it).
Inside Developments:
Thinking about making alterations to the line on the inside of the invitations to match the aesthetic of the poster. The lines on the poster aren't as detailed as the ones used in the invitation pages.
Taking the lines off of the poster and applying to the invitations, try to keep things cohesive
Initial line designs |
New line designs |
- New lines match the ones on the poster have a stronger sense of continuity across formats.
- Need to make with the rest of the images, have the 'logotype' similar to the vinyl on the shop front. Having the front and back pieces on grey board/mount board to add some stability.
- Finalised key ring, can be added to keys, makes it look more effective.
- Includes a sticker of the logotype as an extra touch, people can stick wherever.
- Could've done with the outside and inside being connected rather than all the final layers of the blue layer or the inner layers
