Video Map:
- Put the directions from liberty park to uni into google maps for directions
- Put the directions through the first 18 languages on google translate
- Found stock video footage that related to a keyword in each direction
- Edited the footage to be in proportion to how long it would take to walk that particular direction
- Really like the production of the video.
- Could develop a typeface (from the journey) this could be placed at the bottom of video giving direction. - Try making a typeface based off of the direction walked, think about how to add to image, place overtop in the same direction as the directions?
- Video is very effective, it's really weird and strange.
- Think you should make this longer and maybe add audio - such as the sounds you hear walking from liberty to uni. The different sounds could last for each clip. - Add the google translate lady saying the instructions over the top.
- I felt like the video would be better if they were your own videos.
- Could create your own actions that relate to the journey.
- Make the typeface used in the video.
- Also having sound would be interesting, maybe of the woman on translate saying the directions.
- Simply a video of a man mouthing the words from google translate could be funny. - Test this idea quickly.
Conversation Map:
- Transcribed a conversation and arranged the words alphabetically
- Joined up the words with arrows in the order they were said in the conversation
- Really like the visual of the conversation map, like the idea of arrows.
- Could be an animated gif. - Test this idea quickly once generated digitally to see the effect.
- Could make it HUGE from ceiling over to the other side of the room. - Experiment with scale, tile prints and make large
- Could apply colour to represent the sound of the voices.
- The arrows used in the conversation map are messy and could look better if it was refined more.
- Could the patterns the lines make be the design? - Remove the text from the different maps and see the effect, does it still work or will too much of the actual conversation be compromised?
- What would the alphabetical words look like if there were loads.
Overall Comments:
- I think the video has more visual impact, but I don't know how the conversation would be displayed.
- Like the conversation map as it has a more hands-on creative feel about it, whilst the video feels basic and shallow.
- Taking stills from the video and overlaying 2 at the same time with the text on the screen print could be interesting = a series of posters. - Taking stills of the video could be interesting, could play with composition, along with text.
