Crit Feedback - Significance of Numbers

  • Add page numbers - think about how to include the imperial system into this.
    - Could have the numbers be the scaling of the system, 4 barley corns equals one inch, 12 inches equal 1 foo etc?
  • Thinking the overall vibe needs to be either informative, or nonsensical.
    - With this I'm aiming for people to realise it's nonsensical through the context, this is achieved through words as well as through the illustrations.
    - Peer crit stated the illustrations could be used as an insert, feel as though the current usage of the illustrations suits this.
    - However, they could do with some context, potentially ask Sophia for an explanation and include to act as a forward?
  • Add type to the illustrations.
    - Not sure how this would work, feel as though the illustrations work as a break from the type, test this.
  • Look into the typefaces used on signs, road signs, maps, old type etc.
  • Incorporate a grid into it.
    - Grid paper, very maths based link, will it be too obvious? How could this be included?
What to do next:
- Test text on illustrations
- Ask Sophia for a written explanation behind illustrations

Dom Feedback:
- Incorporate colour into the project, add a visual break.
- Have the illustration end page be slightly smaller encourage people to take it out and look at it.
- Looks more into the sans serif typeface, have this be key.
- Remove the grid, too distracting and busy.

Testing paperstock, struggle to find thin paper, best colour is in the library is on 135 gsm paper a bit too thick bu is the best colour.

More neon colours I wouldn't be able to overset colour on the inside pages that matches. Need a colour that is printable with ink, unless i were to paint over in a neon paint? - could test this.
Double sided neon paper in the studio is A4 would have to be one of the other paper stock which are one sided.

^ tested on this paperstock, think the colour is better (looks more vibrant in person).
- need to potentially find it in a lighter weight.

Rethinking the inside pages, wanting the in context pages to appear slightly different then the repetitious element will be reduced.
And testing alterations suggested by Dom - removed the lines from the history pages, and made the title page follow a similar format to each other, creates consistency.

Taking the idea of the breaks and using these for the images rather than the boarder.
- really like the outcome, it creates a different feel to the history pages, but the type is consistent in layout.
- think it adds more to the page, it isn't just slapped on the top and the bottom.
- can't have anything go too close to edges as it will be trimmed in the final process.
