Feedback from Crit
- Have the outside as Hiatus Kaiyote and the inside be Jorja Smith, can play with the colours on both. Bright on the inside, more subdued on the outside.
- Use the gold for the flag, rip up bits of fabric and stitch back together with gold thread - could have text stitched on as well.
- Take paper, scrunch it up, print over the top and unfold - could paint across the edges/folds with gold to link back to kintsugmi. - print text over the top.
- Really think about the placement of gold in the project, gold leaf, gold paint, gold thread.
- Text and image can start to look chaotic, select specific elements and simplify.
Development After Crit
Went to the print room and tried to screen print onto paper, it didn't work that well because the screen stopped it from getting into all the small spaces. Tried with a paint roller and the overall appearance was more effective.
- Had the appearance of fabric, like a compressed boot you'd see in a museum - artefact.
- The paint roller left a really nice texture on the paper, the edges are super harsh, have a softness to them.
- When in threshold the folds and gritty texture really show through, high contrast would definitely work best with the image like this.
- The shapes made in the unfolded image would be interesting to collage wooth other elements found in research. - Has a slight broken/shattered look.
Altering Jorja Film Photos
Taking the printed fold images and overlaying with last weeks bitmap film images.

- The image is getting really distorted, the overall look is very different from the original.
- Feels like I'm over complicating the simplicity of film photography.
- If to use film images within the sleeve, it shouldn't bee the bitmap, ruins the simplicity of the film photographs.
- The image on the right feels more successful than the left, appears less disjointed and more cohesive.
Text and Folded Prints
Experimenting with text overlays to play with the negative space.

- Like the high contrast and would work well as a screenprint.
- With the image on the right you can see more of the text, and it's a foreground feature, whereas on the left it seems secondary to the folded ink.
- Paper type would need to be carefully considered when printing as there is a lot of negative space which could be printed over with a secondary colour, or left empty to allow paper to be seen.
- Prefer the gird, as it shows more of the folds within the text layers.
