Grid Text Experimentation

 Text Test

Text using the 3x7 grid was difficult to read, or would make odd words to read. Experimentation was needed to find a configuration that works for both pieces of text.

  • When configuration is landscape the Hiatus Kaiyote is easy to read as most words fit uninterrupted within the row, similarly with the Jorja Smith text. However this doesn't project the visual of the gird as much is the lines are transparent.
  • Need to print with the image to see the impact of the configuration.
  • With the inclusion of hanglines the grid becomes no longer 3x7, need to think about the legibility, does it outway the use of the grid?
  • Arial black used as the font, stands out on busy background, and looks vaguely similar to the starbucks font (where Jorja Smith worked growing up).
  • Also test various font's on the impact, here Arial Black is used, but does another font have more meaning, or look better?
