- chaotic side to the genre
- previous techniques e.g. scrunch text or film photos
- photocopies
- juxtaposition with outer sleeve
Testing with the film images:
Experimenting with the positive and negative version, how does that effect the overall image?Film and text looks really busy, successfully communicates the idea of a chaos, but it's hard to distinguish the different images. Doesn't reflect the organised, busy sound of the genre, it just looks disorderly and unconsidered.
The negative stands out more, having white text/image on a black background. It's the opposite to the outer sleeve too, have a juxtaposed look to them.
Testing with text only:
Less chaotic than film + text, still has a busy vibe. The grid is obvious which suggests a level of organisation within the image, reflects well on the genre, more true to the style of music. Grid is a strong link to original neo soul album, feels right to have as a key design element somewhere in the sleeve.Again having the negative, white detail on black background, really makes the design stand out more on it's own as well as when placed next to the outer sleeve.
- need to think about text within grid, have same layout as the outer sleeve.
- is repetition needed? common theme within the artist's music.
