Made a mock up and thought about what should be included. Need all the text or could that be added on at a later date?
Used my own writing to develop the text for the book cover, and having the template projected over a person would help keep the dimensions consistent and save time during editing later. The type felt like it should be more quirky than a regular typeface, and the small illustrations should follow the same aesthetic.
I used felt tip pens and chinagraph pencil (which mimic's crayon) to add to the innocent dooddle aesthetic.
The overall appearance was a bit underwhelming, the effect wasn't as dramatic as I had hoped it would be as the colours were drastically different on the projector than on my computer screen. The blue appeared almost black and the yellow stars were more of a neon colour. The layout as well looked very flat, it didn't have anything interesting and overall just looked weak.
To do next:
- think about the backdrop of the photograph, what should it contain?
- experiment with overhead projector to see if the effect is more successful.
- look at lighting, get photography gels to see impact.
