Wonder Research - Tom Sachs

Sach has a particular style that replicates existing objects but puts a spin on them, and creates as sense of intrigue about the object. His style however isn't perfectly polished, yet more large scale works are meticulously detailed, they retain the sense of being hand crafted.

Space Program (2007)

Sachs has spent a lot of his time feeding his fascination with the Apollo program. He recreated models of varying scales to cultivate his own realisation of the historic event. He got big brands such as Nike, and Chanel to design elements, such as lab coats, for the project, he seems to use these brands to poke fun at corporate identity. 'In addition to the huge, intricately built lunar module that is the centrepiece of SPACE PROGRAM - replete with such classic Sachsian features as a fully stocked booze cabinet, toolkit, and soundtrack necessary for survival on an alien planet'

'Sachs refashions the world out of simple stuff - foam-core, hot-glue, and standard materials, scavenged or readily available from d-i-y catalogues. But beneath his compulsive tinker's mentality and ribald wit is a conceptual delicacy that addresses serious and profound issues - namely the commodification of abstract concepts such as originality, shock, newness, and mystery - expressing them in the personal and physical terms of production and process.

Incorporate the handmade aesthetic when developing project, could incorporate into the papier mache, similar vibe.
- think puppet, old fashioned puppets.
- make own? too ambitious?
