Students Johnathan Wenske and Kris Haro designed the ads to help generate support for the HB 1706 bill in Texas.
The ads got a lot of online attention despite the fact that the students didn't have the funding to produce the campaign publicly.
'While public breastfeeding is already protected by Texas law, HB 1706 would strengthen the existing laws in multiple ways. It would provide education on breastfeeding to business owners, offer compensation for mothers whose rights have been violated, and instruct state agencies to develop mother-friendly policies in the workplace. The overall idea is to reduce the amount of harassment mothers get while breastfeeding in public by spreading awareness and acceptance of the act. - The statement is simple and hard hitting, presenting the information in a way that is easy to understand.
- The text underneath is placed in small print in a box, as not to distract from the focal point of the poster (being the message that breastfeeding in a toilet is ridiculous and disgusting).
- The composition follows a simple grid making it easy for the eye to read and take in the content.
