Studio Practice: Crit Ideas and Developments

Google Maps:

make video of cuts form different videos showing the route, have the times be proportionate to the time it would take to walk that part of the route.
Begin to visualise the instructions
Have the directions instruct a visual - yoko ono 'instruction paintings'

Mapping conversation with Lani:

Use the symbols made to be similar to wayfinding, directing people around the studio
Turn the conversation completely to shorthand, becomes a sort of coding that people would ultimately people would be able to read once they're familiarised with it.
Test combining elements of the text with image developed.
Produce a book in chapters of conversation, chapters be dictated by when the topic of conversation changed dramatically.
Make the alphabetical conversation with audio or get google to read the conversation.

Experimentation with booklet for conversation

Thinking of format, how to arrange the words, why arranged this way.

Having alphabetically provides a structure for the book, can predict what's going to happen when

arranged to the left - columns allows more on each page, need to think about the type being used, develop own? based off of what?

arranged centrally - fits on the page better but more difficult to read as your eyes have to track the start of each word

justfied text - even more difficult to read, could have arranged tighter so the words fill more of the line, having smaller columns?

Have google translate read the text out loud as the map, provide headphones for exhibition, could you book as a pamphlet, could come with a CD to play the audio or link to Spotify with the conversations on. Thinking back to Jeremy Deller's 'history of the world' mimd map and how the presentation complimented the content. Think that a conversation is heard and so the presentation could accommodate this.

Having the audio for the map added something more physical than having the words alone.

It was more humorous having google speak the text due to the robotic voice, when the words were repeated they sounded the same and created an odd sound when said back to back.

Could have provided in the exhibition alongside the text or other sort of map, could have it read in the list the conversation was had in?

Having the whole conversation could provide more context for the alphabetical depiction of the conversation, again having the voice read the text in a monotone/robotic manner makes it more funny.

Creating the conversation from the alphabet, having the words listed and joined up manually to demonstrate the direction of the conversation. It's organised one way (A-Z) and by another (order words were said in) so that the audience can direct themselves through the conversation.

You can't see the links very clearly as the space surrounding the words is small, could have a larger list or demonstrate in a landscape way using multiple columns to make it easier to follow, could have a colour coded scheme?
