Post Crit Developments

Mapping a conversation:

Visualising the conversation, experimenting with the previous circle design. Thinking of Lettrism, how to develop visuals, develop a code?
How to make it have a flow or demonstrate a sense of development?

Above, circles are organised into the frequency of words used and demonstrated using circles with altered circumferences, 1cm = used once, 12cm = used 12 times.
Above, having the circles organised into the order the words were said, read through the transcript and noted down the frequency number of the word then arranged into the order of the conversation
conversation translated into numbers according to frequency of the words said
map flat on table
map being held up/pulled out

Do these communicate?
Would they need a key?
Would it be a good idea to have the words in the circle to add more context as to why there are lots of circles arranged.
Has the idea been taken too far and needs bringing back to a simpler form?

Developing into icons:
looked at windings for the numbers and developed these into simplified icons, have arranged in order of the conversation, have the icons be as though they're touching each other to form a pattern when placed alongside each other.

Windings 1:

Simplifying the shapes into icons using an
axonometric grid to keep things uniform.
Finalised icons

Icons used in context, placed into grid then developed into long strip as well as being tested in positive and negative formats (see below)

Windings 2:

Again simplifying the type to become icons, the arrows provided a lot of direction for placement of the icon, thinking of using a line as it is so simple but could also end up connecting to other lines to form a path.

Here joining the lines up creates a sort of maze.

What to do from here:
  • Take windings 2 design and make into games cards?
  • Take windings 2 design and make 3D, could have the words from the conversation on the sides of the walls to guide out of the maze?
  • Think of other ways to include the text into the designs.
  • Experiment with dictionary book, black out and creation.
