Poster Evaluation

Text:
  • I like how the quote is referenced, it makes the decision seem considered and shows development.
  • The use of black and white is striking and allows the text to stand out and would be very eye catching put up in a public space.
  • I think the design would make people stop and think, as the topic is very relevant to the news today.
  • Having the text placed centrally means the information is easily legible and becomes the focal point of the image straight away.
  • The theme of the posters is clear in this design from the text used (e.g. breastfeeding).
  • The serif typeface works well to express the modern problem, the use of the white on black creates a simple focal point.
  • It would be interesting if you were to illustrate a bit more with your type, in that you can exclude the word breastfeed or leave, as to showcase the social norm that it is not alright to breastfeed in public. - thinking back to previous experiments when manipulating the Bs and Os within the quote. What other things could be altered? How and what would this communicate to the audience?

Image:
  • The irony of the image being used on page 3 is funny, and that is what makes the design work so well.
  • The use of the stark black background also draws attention to the actual newspaper more too.
  • I think seeing this in public in a poster format would make someone stop and look at it as it’s different from the usual posters you would see in public areas.
  • The fact it is exhibited in a public space and is talking about breastfeeding in public is ironic.
  • The use of the newspaper is interesting and intrigues me.
  • It would be interesting if you could have put the picture in playboy instead. - Having something more widely recognised as being the place to put the imagery, could be more effective in reaching a wider audience. Playboy could have a negative impact on the message as it is a highly sexualised magazine and the aim isn't to sexualise the image.

Text and image:
  • I really like the funny element to this design. The image works well on it’s own with the blurred background making it look very professional, and the addition of the text on the eye mask further pushes the comedic value.
  • I like the addition of the QR code, makes the poster more interactive to the audience which would engage them better. - People reacted well to the incorporation of the QR code, could maybe think of a way to further this, what other methods could be used if the project was carried forward?
  • The blindfold is a fun take on shielding people from something so natural.
  • The photo would be better of it would have been taken in a busier location so you see people passing by. - Would have been a good idea to take the photos at a different time, such as rush hour, so more people would be walking around town. However the timing meant it would be getting darker and didn't have access to lighting so the photo quality might have suffered as a result of this.
  • It has a clear focal pint and is clear and concise without being in your face shaming people, this is  just a bit of fun.
