Initial Idea Development

Taking the conversation of me and Wilanie walking back to uni after the 10 minute exercise. Transcribed the first 3 mins and put into alphabetical order, as a way to organise the type. See below.

Ways to present the data:

Graph of the Conversation, demonstrating the frequency of words used.

The graph displayed the frequency of words simply, but wasn't that interesting to look at, gets overlooked as it is something that appears quite mathematical.
How to hop of the theme of maths within the map in ways that aren't just graphs?
- pie charts
- blue prints and measurements

The graph but expressed through circles instead of  a bar chart, provides a more visual sense of frequency.

The visual aspect to the circles makes it really easy to understand that there are more of some words than others. Could they be overlaid like in the earlier examples for the streetlight?
Think of adding colour or ways to expand on the layout, how to arrange? Have the circles in size order? Cut them out and drop them on a page to scan? Make using pen on paper, like Dan Eatock's pen drawing, could place the pens for 10 sec if used once, 20 if twice, 30 if 3 times and so on? (see below)

Dan Eatock

Taking the words from the conversation and presenting them in the same way as a dictionary, using only words said in the conversation, so it becomes a dictionary of conversation.
The dictionary idea has potential to be developed further, not just in the same way as a ordinary dictionary. Could have a different word on each page with a rubbing of a texture from the location as the background.

Thinking of other ways to present the data:
- visually using symbols
- think about things other than frequency, like vowels, or the most important words in the conversation. What words could be extracted and the flow of the conversation remain legible?
- directional, place along a path
