Projection Workshop

Experimenting with cutting pieces off
- Found that when an item was placed in front to mask of selections of the image there were multiple shadows generated, this could be something to play with further down the line in the project (if applicable).

Projecting on the Ceiling
- Augmented the imagery, it wasn't in an expected place.
- Made you interact with the space more as it wasn't super obvious there was something happening on the ceiling, only if you were looking for it.
- The texture of the ceiling really interacted with the imagery, it created something that was completely unique. This could be a good way of developing imagery to use for the project.
- As the ceiling tiles were placed in a grid it made it super obvious that the camera was static and it was a video. This could be useful for the project, creating an immersive experience with a sense of motion will remaining static.

Isolating layers with Paper
- Using a static image on one projector with a black space in the centre, allowing for more imagery to appear in this space. Then on a second projector having a moving colour video layered over the top - this allowed for a clear distinction between the two.
- Thinking about more ways to isolate them, having a piece of paper with a small square cut out placed over the top as to block out some of the video footage. This was really successful, it created an effect that was similar to someone looking around with a torch in the dark.

Non-connected Projector with Video
- When on of the projectors cut out it left a really lovely effect on the video footage that was still rolling. IT looked almost as though it was a blueprint, this could be something to consider, having selective colour overlays on elements of the projection (what effect would this have?).

Location of Projection
- Where was the projection located and how this impacts the experience you have with it.
- Having the projection placed across different angles in the room allows for more angels and fragmented imagery to be made. When placed across the corner of the room, with one wall further away than the other, the projection had 3 distinct shapes. This could be something to hack into and design an animation or imagery directly for.
- When incorporating more obscure objects, such as a mannequin head, this made certain images stand out. Think about the content you project and what you project it over, how does this impact the overall experience.
