Text Experiments

Futura with varying sized type.
Trying to make the book look more random and unconventional.

The effect isn't that effective, as the pages don't vary that dramatically in size neither does the size of the type. Keeping the type central is a nice way of allowing the audience to have a sense of where to follow but it still changes each time because of the paper sizes.

The type size is consistent throughout but the typeface changes throughout the book.
This really didn't work as the typefaces used were the basic ones you find on word. I think the overall effect just looks unconsidered and I could achieve a sense of chaos in the type using another method. Found it looked cheap.

Compressed, central, medium type.

Here the type is compressed to the centre of the page, this prevents the pages from looking too intimidating with a large bold typeface dominating the whole page. It also provides some order for the reader to help them understand where the type will be on each page. The type varies in size to fit the quote to the page before any words become hyphenated.
The text also compliments the wobbly type as they're of a similar weight.

Whole page, medium, regular typeset
Here the text has a regular typesetting and takes up the whole page, this give the text some space to breathe as to not overpower the audience but still is dominating the page.
The text looks odd with the jumpled text, there's too much of a difference in the pages, the centred type works better for this.

Centred on page, medium, regular typeset
With the type centred on the page with regular typesetting the body text works better with the jumpled text than when it's covering the whole page. The text itself is very ordered and doesn't display any chaoes. This might play to the advantage of the book once the colour is incorporated (need to test this).

Centred on page, thin, tight typeset
Testing out a thin typeface with the tight typesetting to see if this allows enough space for the test to breathe, as to not look too intimidating. However the overall effect isn't aesthetically appealing at all. I think it looks too spindly and will get lost on darker coloured papers.
