Need to present and communicate your best kept secret.
Need to come up with and develop a piece of design that represents your best kept secret.
Best kept secret could be anything, a person, a product, a place, an object.
Could be humorous.
Needs to be something you're genuinely interested and passionate about.
Outcome is a piece of design that is tailored to the best kept secret based off of personal.
Lani's best kept secret:
- Cheese on eggs
- Little bookshop in South Africa 'Bikini Beach Books'
- Kirkgate South African Shop
Evie's best kept secret:
- Illustration production room
- Sheffield Bagel Shack
- Avocado and Stilton on toast
- The Red Deer Pub (Sheffield)
- Sheffield/Headingley Bear Pit
- Evora
Bikini Beach Books (Cape Town)
Hot day = beach
Colder = ice cream or fish and chips
Go into aladdins cave, and buy trinkits or go into the bookshop for hours (stoke the cats).
Head towards Chapman's Peak and stop at the power station to have the fish and chips while looking at the view.
Wanting to communicate a sense of jumbled.
Creating a book as a result, would be best suited.
Thinking of what to do with the type:
Wanting to represent the journey or the way you experience the book shop and surrounding areas.
What are we trying to achieve?
- Showcase the area in a more positive way
- Tourists don’t tend to go there, but not to make them go, just to show off the area, “lower-class” area
- Showing an area which people wouldn’t otherwise see
- Make people appreciate their area more
Making a book because there isn’t internet/websites for the places
Fits with the book shop there
Formats
- Stacked text for the books
- Stacked images, hiding the other areas behind the bay
- Busy, chaotic
- Winding text for the drive up to Chapman’s peak
- Take some of the street names and add them as text, Bluegum Drive, Lancaster Road, Milky Way, Luna Way, Watsonia Street, Suikerbossie Drive (sugarbush), Protea Drive (national flower)
