Steenbras Lookout
Short drive up the Steenbras Lookout Point which is literally right in front of the gates to the Steenbras Water Treatment Plant. Not only is it a beautiful drive, the views across False Bay, Gordon’s Bay and Strand are magnificent. Plus, it’s also the only pass in South Africa that has a hairpin bend in excess of 180 degrees! 

 The river and dam are named after the steenbras, a fish endemic to South Africa.
Upper Steenbras is not only used for water storage. It forms the upper reservoir for the City’s Steenbras pumped storage scheme, which generates extra electricity during peak demand.
