Significance of Numbers:
> Thinking back to initial project in first year, a machine to make a typeface, but converting it to a numbers generator.
- This doesn't link so closely to the brief, its about altering the way we experience numbers, don't know how to incorporate this into the brief.
> Developing a system where at first glance it makes no sense, but you provide a rule or key that shifts and makes everything make sense.
- This could be interesting to experiment with as this is basically what the whole system is about, it starts from one thing and develops into something else.
> Need to develop visual examples of how to use the system.
- Could this be done through a publication, exhibition?
> Developing a "visual mess" to demonstrate the system.
- Tried doing with with manipulated type, wanting to develop visuals that are more random in nature.
Overall my crit didn't go very well, I have no idea what to do.
Needing to keep making and think about what it is I want to communicate - keep going to develop a narrative or find an idea of what I'm trying to communicate.
Is the imperial system the right way to go?
"transcend language" - statement by Masashi Murakami, really think it relates to number, maths transcends language, it is universally understood. People from all over the world use maths, the symbols are the same, it is universal.
This idea of having language be something that holds people back is really interesting. When communicating elements within the project.
Quote from mean girls 'it's the same in every country' something that I always think of when thinking about maths.
Maybe this element is something else to consider?
NEED TO STRIP IT BACK AND THINK ABOUT HOW TO DISPLAY THE CONCEPT
