Kinetic Typography
Case Study 01

Kinetic Typography
Case Study 02

- These case studies explore a wide range of kinetic type. Each relate to the word and have motion that responds/relates.
- The black and white colour scheme allows the text to be the soul focus.
- With some of the pieces the only way of knowing what it says is that it's repeated. The animations can make the text difficult to read in certain pieces. Bare this in mind, some animations wouldn't work for large sections of text.
Institue of Social Movements (ISM) - The Institute of Social Movements (ISM) documents the history of protests and their affects on society. The logo mirrors the posters of protesters.

- The considerations into the application of the branding is extensive, all elements have been considered and are relevant.
- The black and white colour palette relates to the historical element of the institution, and allows every element of the brand to be consistent.
- Thinking about this in relation to typography, the type is very versatile, it has a clear specification for headers, body text etc. Could this be applied when thinking about developing a kinetic/responsive typeface?
Thinking of having a website where the different elements of it respond to a change in numbers in the world, eg date, time, temperature, location etc.
- Wanting to get people more in tune with the alterations around them, one's they may forget.
- Need to talk to peers and to tutor to see whether this has a strong enough link to mathematic and numbers.
- Weather sites all look the same, they suit their purpose, icons are recognisable, people understand them. If they were altered too much it would no longer suit it's purpose.
- Could be a digital calendar page, have the number and text change when people open their laptops.
- Have the home screen for the iPhone change. Lots of people have iphones, they look at the home screen to check the time and date etc. It's a way of getting people to actually look at the alterations and recognise them.
