Crit Feedback 04.05

  • For screen based does it have to be web, would it suit a mobile format more? This way you could use how people touch the screen, double tap, how hard they press it, using two fingers etc. What would this do to the layout?
  • With the exhibition having an event incorporated that becomes a piece of performance work.
  • Tracking movement on screen, having where people had the mouse, this could feed into the layout of the exhibition or posters etc. Mouse tracking software Helena sent on email pdf).
  • Use the website tracking lines to be the line the audience has to follow on the floor of the exhibition.
  • With the book, playing more with how it could bring attention to the body. Do you have to turn it around to be able to read sections, or is the scale much larger so you're having to faff around with the publication.
    - Discussed the idea of a newspaper, non bind, spreads carrying through to other pages etc.
    - Scale would be an interesting idea to play around with, not just A4.
    - Having different elements of the newspaper in different places so the audience has to move around loads, thinking about the website idea I had that directed the audience around the page but do this in newspaper format instead.
  • Helena research presentation, typeface dependent on how she interacted with things.
  • Using the typeface as a way to elevate the aesthetic from being too old fashioned.
  • Newspaper hound or newspaper club - way to get it printed if it's still printing.
  • Emily suggested collecting part of the publication in the exhibition, inspired from https://www.itsnicethat.com/articles/ok-rm-untitled-art-010216.
    - Making the audience aware of their body by building the book themselves.
  • Map in Emily's reference is also really interesting.
    - The format is very methodical in this, taking these themes and reversing them. Using the map as a way to bring attention to the body. How would this be done?
  • Sound pods you get in museums that read information but you can only hear it when you're stood under it.
    - Feel like something like this could be really interesting to play around with the idea of.
    - Could be incorporated into the exhibition and would play back what you say to you. Bring attention to the body this way. This idea could be combined with the circles on the floor, dictating where the audience should stand. Feel as though this is a really good way of incorporating another element to the idea.
  • Joseph Boyce, writing scripts or prompts for audience to hear when walking around the exhibition.
     - Feel like this could be interesting to experiment with, could provide a booklet full of prompts.
    - Maybe the publication made would be the prompts for each piece. In exhibitions there are often more info pages available in a box beneath the work. Perhaps these could contain prompts. Each piece has a different prompt, when collected together and folded it creates a book.
