Ways to make the text look more purposeful, having the text intertwine with the stars on the image, having the quotes arranged around the lower stars giving a sense of direction to the text flow. However with this arrangement it could be really easy for orphans to develop forcing the reader to follow the text in an odd order.
To stop the odd text arrangement, have the text separated from the rest of the image by a column. This would keep the front image as an individual entity and the back for the text, this mirrors the feelings of isolation August feels throughout the book.
Experimentation with digital collage of the images developed for the cover, using tin foil from the background, as well as isolating the colour gradient and using these as a background to make the text isolated from the rest of the image.

Including the light box from the newer photos. |
Having the light boxes included on the old photos looks out of place since the white is so stark compared to the dark face and background. Would need another way to have the text:
- hand written (look back in project)
- illustrator type
- think about research (NASA)

Isolated text bar using different colour gradient from a separate photo |
Having a clean cut across the back looks too stark with the image, doesn't communicate the sense of being handmade. Still wanting to keep things organic whist drawing things back to be more minimal.

Ripped paper and tinfoil overlay |

Inverted rip text only |
Having a ripped bar for the text is too messy, think of a way to achieve an organic look whilst retaining a professionalism.
- cut paper
-zigzag scissors
-masking taped on
 |
Original rip text only |

opaque rip tin foil spanning across to the spine |
I liked the tin foil spanning the length of the back cover to the spine, the text would sit within the image, add some more texture to the book. But it doesn't communicate a sense of isolation, and the original image gets tampered with. Looks better as a individual strip.
