- have some bold (best in best seller)
- use italics (newspapers that provided quotes)
etc.
Having the original typeface edited onto the cover, white stands out more against the dar background, but the black compliments the tones on the book. Weight it something to be considered as the thinner text looks less aggressive, should be weary about this since the book is a young readers book.
- make sure to think about how to appeal to a younger audience. Could use type to do this.
If type was hand written like the back pages would it appear less intimidating?
In the photos that included the light box the trail of celotape that stopped the light from being seen was something that people like in the photos, it showed how the box was made, but also reminded people of the tube astronauts have when they're in space. Could incorporate this element into the type with continuous line writing? Make sure not to take pen off the page to create more flowing lines.
The result of this created a sort of grid system as the lines training from the end of one line to the other became a sense of direction for the text.

fine liner pen, thinner lines means more of the detail can be seen. |

chinagraph pencil, has a more childlike appearance and allows for the connection between lines to be faint. |

chinagraph, written using left hand, trying to mimic the hand writing of a 10 year old boy. |

felt tip for the title and fine felt tip for the quote, gives a sense of differentiation to the front. |
The text could also follow the shapes of the astronaut helmet on the book cover, creating a curve for the text to follow. Think about the 'stand out' part of the text and how to make it literally stand out, increase size or weight perhaps? Using the curve to make curve type, taken from Helvetica simple font so can be easily manipulated or replicated and remain legible.

The text following the curvature of the helmet makes it feel more cohesive as a piece, the text has a guide to follow and isn't just floating aimlessly around the cover. It also keeps the cover more minimal and space out.
Text using the continuous line type:

loop text around head, too small to read and doesn't portray the idea of the connection tube |
Really like the continuous line text, it draws parallels between the tubes that connect an astronaut to the spaceship, the text at the bottom looks really condensed, need to try reversing the title and quote.
Fills the space around the imaged better, the thin text for the quote doesn't distract from the colours in the background. For the spine need to think about the text as it looks like there are 3 different typefaces when there are only 2.
- include spine in white text book too?
Used the same techniques used for the back on the spine, makes it clearer that there are only 2 typefaces, separates the front from the back presents two different messages almost.
