Used fine liner for the majority of the text, and then highlighted some key words in bold. The quotes were in a smaller point than the info about August or the best seller line, provided more separation between the two types of text.
Used chinagraph as well as felt tip to increase the weight of the text. The chinagraph smudged the letters and they weren't as legible as when using the fine liner pen, especially on the smaller point type for quotes.

Have the text on the back again felt like it needed order, isolating into own boxes (like on school board displays) including on the colour gradient strip, tested with isolating in colour gradient boxes as well as regular white and black boxes. The white stood out the most and allowed for the text to be a key feature of the back page.
The white text box would compliment white text on front of the book, conveys a sense of innocence as it is a cut and stick method like children do in primary school. The gradient boxes look like something you'd find on word art rather than a professional book cover, and the black is again quite intimidating for a young readers book.
I find the white text boxes to be the most successful for the blurb of the book.
