Research - Toof Prints

Toof Prints- exploring contemporary graphic design in public spaces.

The text in the image is the key focus, the use of text along makes it the focal point of the image.
Hand rendered text makes it appear more approachable, and has a more youthful tone, this combats the seriousness of the black and white colour palette.
The words have a very sharp sound to them, the typeface expresses this clearly through the use of harsh lines and dramatic angles.
The text on this blends well into the image, the figure ground relationship between the two is mildly ambiguous since some letters become confused with the image, this is a result of the colour palette and provides and eerie presence.
The placement of the poster within the archway really adds to the composition of the image, the curve of the persons face is mimicked in the curve of the archway. The complimenting shapes makes the poster seem more considered and aware of the surroundings.

The text on this image has a very stable figure ground relationship, this helps the text be the focal point of the poster. The use of the gaps in the text presents an idea of censorship, that something wasn't appropriate for the poster so it's been removed as a design choice before other would censor it.

Having the pattern being the image on the poster, doesn't instantly communicate something to the audience, could do with text to provide some context for the image.
The use of a repeated pattern to develop a visual is an interesting idea, could incorporate into own work, develop a typeface as a result also?
