- Often added with some text describing where the code will link to
- usually are the focal point of the poster, but if not then they're places in a corner of the poster but complimenting the composition - think about grids. Figure 3 shows a more considered placement of the code, the text attached is surrounded in a box to demonstrate that the info is about the code only, and isn't to impact the rest of the poster.
- Can be altered to fit the aesthetic of the poster itself, in figure 1 the colour as well as shape of the code had changed, still in the format of a square but has curved edges to compliment a more friendly tone the ad would be wanting to communicate.
- In figure 2 the QR code is the focal point of the poster, so the text and icons surrounding compliment the code. It also has the Facebook logo in the centre, QR codes can be altered slightly to fit within a style or theme of the poster.
How to put into own poster?
- think about whether having text with the code or note and how to collate this so it doesn't impact the rest of the poster.
- think about altering the code at all, is there anything that could be incorporated into the centre to provide some context for where it'll take the viewer?
- positioning on the poster, previous tests into the text show that having central distracts the audience from the focal point of the poster (the eye mask) to having it be places in the bottom corner might be more effective. Also with the placement being at the bottom the audience will be able to access it more easily when put into context.
Testing on Own Poster:
Simply placed QR code in the bottom right hand corner, works well with no text, but if text was added might need to be moved to the left as people read left to right, so would be easier for the audience to read the content.
The white box lightens the photo, having in a dark grey brings the tone of the poster down quite a bit.
People might be unsure on the purpose of the QR code if there isn't any text - test adding.
The positioning of the QR code works best in the bottom left of the poster, there is less content in the photo on the left than the right so doesn't appear as cramped.
The text looks better in black with the white box as it compliments the structure of the QR code, could maybe have a transparent box as the background rather than the outline of a square thinking back to the 'when nurture calls' campaign.
The opaque box makes it more noticeable on the poster, but the outline makes the photo seem less compromised.
From Peer feedback people said they preferred the opaque box and it doesn't cut out a part of the photo as the outline does. They also liked out it made the text easier to because on the outline the grey floor make some bits of text harder to understand.
