Overview of Book Elements (for self and silent crit)

RATIONALE:
Wanting to represent the feeling of being at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
The city itself is very traditional looking from the outside, the architecture of the city is very angular and uses a lot of stone.
The Fringe itself is a crazy arts festival, anyone who's been will tell you there's lots of imagery everywhere! wanting to replicate this bombardment of imagery, sound and colour.

OVERVIEW OF BOOK ELEMENTS:
Cover: Appears like people's perception of Edinburgh as a city. Traditional, sophisticated etc. Also inspired by the city's architecture, old stone buildings and cobbled streets. Wanting it to contrast with the inside of the book. Hard back book as a consequence.

Pages: Reflect the influx of imagery you get when you go to the fringe, in particular when you walk down the Royal Mile. Lots of people handing you flyers left right and centre, lots of colours, all sorts of crazy things happening. Made fully of tip-ins to really further this effect.
Having a colour coded element to provide some structure to the book, resembling 'organised chaos'. The different categories of shows are presented on specific coloured papers.
Dueplexed to add an extra element to the book, becomes even more confusing for the reader to understand what's coming up next.

Text: Making the text as confusing as the book

Bind: Kettle stitch bind to allow the book to lie flat. Other binding methods prevented the reader from fully diving into the book which is an integral part of the reader's experience. This bind was able to incorporate the use of tip-ins as well. The spine of the bind will be hidden, demonstrates the idea of the team who organised the event being hidden from those who attend.
