Really loved the experimental type, not sure of the purpose but definitely creates this sense of chaos. Thinking of how I could capture this in my book as it was well received in previous crit.
Thinking about what to do to the type inside the book.
Need to experiment with:
- Different fonts
- Different sized letters
Thinking about which typefaces to use, on the Edinburgh Fringe logo the typeface used for the smaller text is Futura. This could be used for the majority of the book, also as a sans serif font it contrasts nicely to the outside.
Looks a lot like a text raincloud thing, not sure on the official term, but the diagrams when words are used more than other's they're bigger, that type of thing. Really didn't like this, it looks cheap and unconsidered as well as poorly communicating this idea of organised chaos as there is no order.
This text demonstrates the theory of organised chaos most successfully, it has the same rules as regular text, and is right aligned so easy to read. However the tracking and leading has been altered so the text is pushed closer together.
Trying to incorporate shapes into the work, to see if this is appropriate for the effect I want to achieve. The text was difficult to justify, to fit across the whole line. The text became jolty and difficult to read, kind of going against the initial aim of the text.
Need to text these on paper stock and work out configurations when dueplexing pages.
Thinking about how these will interact with the page and what communicates the message in the best way. Wanting the text to convey this idea of organised chaos, the text still needs to be legible but still pretty confusing to read.
