Fred Aldous

Looking for a different paper type to use for the neutral pages in the book, as the recycled sugar paper is too soft for the intense bind, making the book less structurally sound. As it wasn't as dense a paper the ink from the text also bled slightly during the printing process, this could've been due to the use of an ink printer rather than a toner, but is something to be avoided.

In Fred Aldous there were a few varieties of paper:

These all had a similar look and feel to what I had originally planned to use. I purchased the Cairn Straw White as it was a similar weight to the colourful paper stock being used for a selection of pages. And also the Cyclus Offset as it was less pigmented than the Cairn Straw White.
- Need to print on these next and see how colour transfers across as well as look out for bleeding.

As well Fred Aldous had a selection of linen thread that if the suitable colour isn't available at university I would be able to source it here also. There is a limited colour range but is definitely worth remembering for future reference.

Tested the printing. On the Cyclus Offset paper it was smooth, the colour didn't bleed and the colour of the paper didn't impact the colours of the image:

On the Cairn Eco paper the texture was too visible, the paper didn't feel as compact so don't want to risk the ripping again:
